A Weekend in Prague – Around The City

Prague, one of the oldest cities in the entire world and the capital of the Czech Republic, is a place that arouses a lot of interest among historians as also travel lovers. Considered to be the major city during the Roman Era, a quality Prague weekend for two days offers a lot of fun and historical viewing to be witnessed by the tourists and visitors planning to spend their weekend here..

Due to the warm conditions during the summer, Prague weekend breaks are enjoyed by tourist and travellers during this particular time of the year.

Although it has various sights to offer for their tourists, the sights concerning the Old Town Square and Josefov have already been described in the first part of this article.

However, if you have not gone through the first part, then briefly I can say Old Town square is considered the heart of this historic city with a number of attractive monuments and buildings nearby to have a glance. Josefov is a small town inside the Old Town consist of many memorable historic places like the Jewish Cemetery (oldest in the Europe) and also synagogue and other ancient places to look for.

Now, I am coming to those parts of Prague that I have yet not covered in the previous article.

Firstly, the structure that needs a mention is the historical and the astonishing Charles Bridge that connects the old town with the MaláStrana district.. Considered to be 500 years of age, this ancient yet marvellous bridge was constructed during the time of Charles’ the 4th.

The most appealing feature of this bridge is that at each end of the bridge, a tower has been stranded. These towers can be climbed and from the top the remarkable view of cities lying at each end can be viewed.

Next, for a change of taste, go and visit the Strahov Monastery. You will see the convent and library situated inside it and later, surely you will be spellbound about the curved beauties it possesses.

Then next to it is the Prague Castle, which is not a single one but a series of castles lying side by side. Considered to have the largest castle area in the entire world, this will surely take up plenty of your time to visit this entire place.

After exploring the castles areas, then head toward the Lesser Town, where the Infant Jesus is situated.

Enough on historical places and structures. Now, move towards the fascinating Prague Zoo, which, according to the Forbes magazine, is considered to be the seventh best zoo in the entire world. In addition, there are various small gardens and parks, where you can spend some time relaxing.

If you have some quality time left, then head towards Kampa Island, from where you can have a taste of the Malá Strana district. In addition, Kampa Museum lies in the eastern banks of this island.
