Boot Camp Weight Loss Program For Women. What To Look For…
By: Laura Quintanilla
A boot camp weight loss program designed for women is one of the best ways to lose weight if you’re looking for an affordable way to lose weight through training. But there are some factors you want to look for to make it truly worth your time and avoid getting bad results.
Boot camp weight loss programs are so popular with women right now because it is more affordable, because women like working out as a group, and women also generally do not like going to a gym.
So a boot camp solves that problem.
But here is where the the problem occurs: Most boot camp weight loss programs for women only focus on running. Running in a field, running on a part, running on a beach, etc. It is a lot of running. This is what I hear from my clients all the time.
And when it comes to nutrition, most boot camps give extremely scant information on how to eat to lose weight fast but also you lose weight in a healthy way. They basically focus on calories and tell clients to eat less.
But when it comes to women, especially women who are in their mid 30’s to mid 50’s, they need a very specific set of nutritional guidelines and also a specific set of fitness requirements to get these women amazing and long lasting results.
So running a lot and eating less will get weight loss results for a woman who is out of shape and has not worked out for a wile and starts with this. There will definitely be a result. But it will not last!
A good boot camp weight loss program, will really take the time to make sure the workouts are balanced between strength and cardio. If your boot camp doesn’t focus on strength and you are a woman in your mid 30’s and mid 50’s you will lose your results very fast. Here is why: as you get into the mid 30’s and mid 50’s you will find these are two times your lean muscle mass drops significantly.
Lean muscle raises your metabolic rate. If you lose lean muscle you lower your metabolic rate. Running is a great exercise. Don’t get me wrong. But running on its own will not preserve or even build lean muscle. It will increase your cardio vascular health but it will not increase lean muscle mass.
So your boot camp weight loss program needs to give you a balanced workout that gets your stronger and more balanced. I have clients that tell me the in their last boot camp, they basically ran all the time and as a result of only running, she got injured. This is an unfortunate result of getting someone who is not fit and making them do only one kind of exercise. It is unbalanced.
By getting a balanced workout, you get stronger and your reduce injury.
As for nutrition, you need to learn more than how to eat less. Eating less will lower your metabolic rate. In the short term you will lose weight. But eating less can cause you to lose lean muscle mass. So that is a bad thing as you now know. What you want to learn is how to eat to burn fat as well a preserve lean muscle.
So these are the most important factors to look for in a boot camp weight loss program for women.
