Unexpected Halloween Decorations For Home

Are you ready to greet Halloween? If you are as excited about Halloween as we are, consider decorating your house for this holiday. Pumpkins, skulls, dark flowers, ghosts, creepy spiders and any many other Halloween decorations you buy or make could become a great part. Here are some ideas on how you can transform your house into an awesome expression of the Halloween season.

Halloween Mask and Googly Eyes

Create a terrifying face or buy a Halloween mask to hang in the window to frighten the neighbors. Take the black plastic bottom of a chicken takeaway container or any similar container, wash thoroughly, then glue on a couple of battery-powered tea lights. Turn on the lights before gluing them on to the plastic. Add a frightening paper grin and you are done.

Halloween Pumpkin in Drag

Instead of carving up a pumpkin this year, why not cut up some torn pantyhose and stretch over those pumpkins instead? Patterned stockings such as lace or net look best but you plain black or brown ones work, too. Just add a few extra holes to give the Halloween pumpkin a perfect bedraggled look.

Halloween Spiders and Bats

Some homeowners go all-out for Halloween; they transform their abodes into fright factories that delight partygoers or trick-or-treaters. If you are this type of zealous Halloween decorator, you could bring the party out back by making your cedar decking into the entrance to your house of horrors. Gather dead wilted flowers to display in pots around your deck. And do not skimp on the fake spider webbing or bats, drape it all over your deck’s railings and posts. Finally, change your deck light to a black light.

Spooky Halloween Lamps

Purchase inexpensive or Halloween lamps and spray paint them black. Pick up some lampshade frames and paint them black as well. Replacing regular lamps with simple black bases and just black frames gives them a skeletal appearance. Another way to add a little interest to lamps is to cut spooky shapes out of black construction paper or felt and then stick them inside of a lampshade with double stick tape. This will create creepy images on the shades that make them look like custom made shades.

Crawling Branches and Vines

Cut some branches and vines from your garden, making sure that the leaves stay on. Spray paint these with a flat black spray paint. Let dry thoroughly. Then attach around the columns of your porch or your gateposts with a glue gun.

Now all you have to do is wait for the ghosts and goblins to come a calling.
