Haridwar the Most Religious City in India
Haridwar is the city situated in the state of India, which is Uttarakhand. This is the place consisting of its own religious values. It is also spelled as Hardwar. The ancient name of the city is Gangadwara, as the River Ganga flows by its source at Gaumukh at the edge of the Gangotri Glacier and enters the Indo Gangetic Plains of North India for the first time at Haridwar. This city is also known by one of the seven holiest places to Hindus.
Accoding to Hindus, Haridwar is one of the places among Ujjain, Nasik, and Allahabad where drops of Amrit or the elixir of immortality spilled over from the water jug while being carried by the celestial bird Garuda. Haridwar is place bathing on the banks of the river Ganga, to wash away their sins to attain Moksha. Today, the city is developing beyond its religious importance, with the fast developing industrial estate of State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation
What to See:
Har Ki Pairi Ghat: Har ki Pairi is depicted as The Footstep of the God. According to Hindu mythology, it is said that it is a place where Lord Vishnu have dropped some heavenly nectar and left behind a footprint. It is also said it is the place to wash away your sins. The ghat sits on the western bank of the Gangas canal, and on the every evening hundreds of believers and worshippers gather here for Ganga Aarti or River Worship ceremony.
Mansa Devi & Chandi Devi Temples: these both the temples are situated on the hilltop of Haridwar. Mansa Devi is the goddess of the wish fulfilling. The visitor used to visit there by the cable car or trolley. Many packages to visit there are also available in cheap rates. Chandi Devi Temple is the other place of its religious values. It was built by Raja Suchet Singh of Kashmir in 1929. It is also on the hill top approximately 4km south east of Haridwar.
Maya Devi Temple
It is the ancient temple in Haridwar. It is also considered as one of the Siddhapethas and also believed that here the heart and navel of Goddess Sati had fallen. It is one the temple standing along with Narayani Shila temple and Bhairav temple. There are many more temples to visit in Haridwar.
How to Reach:
There is fabulous service of trains and roadways to visit Haridwar. It is well connected by these two transports. There are numerous trains running to and from Haridwar on daily basis. There are many buses running through the Haridwar. People prefer to visit Haridwar by there own conveyance. The government is also appoints many deluxe and super deluxe buses on this route.
