Borsao comes from a fairly undiscovered winegrowing area of Spain called Campo de Borja in the north central area of country, located on the south bank of the river Ebro and just below the border of Navarra. Exuberant is the word that comes to the mind when you try to describe first whiff of ripe red-berry fruit and unique blend of black and white pepper. Borsao is a soft, agreeable, berry-filled, spicy red wine whose flavor profile would appeal to a lot of people.
Bodegas Borsao Wine is characterised by an open, forward nose full of fresh red raspberries and oaky vanilla spice, with hints of black fruit and something floral such as violet on the periphery. In mouth, you get a soft, velvety texture that carries flavor of ripe raspberry, with a pleasant touch of vanilla oak spice.
Though not very sweet, Bodegas Borsao Wine feels dry and tart in the mouth. Fresh berry fruit and aromatic pepper is supported by lemony scrumptious acidity. It finishes rather quickly, with a wisp of dry tannins at fag end of the finish. This complex and well balanced wine is a real “fruit bomb,” without being either too austere or too elegant!
You can sip Bodegas Borsao Wine alone or have it with grilled steaks, or just about any red meat or sharp cheese. I personally believe that it is likely to go well with chili, tacos and similar Latin cuisine based on ground beef and beans.
