A look at the new Mazda CX-5
It’s fair to say that the Mazda CX-5 has been one of the most admired compact SUV cars of the past few years thanks to its good looks, rugged stability and great functionality.
Now though, Mazda has taken the already-loved compact SUV and gone and made it even better. Due for release in the next few months, the new car takes the positives of the previous model and ‘ups’ them, while any little quirks or niggles have been ironed out as well.
Dynamic driving, stylish looks and unrivalled environmental performance for its class – the all-new Mazda CX-5 compact crossover SUV made its debut at the Frankfurt motorshow on the 13th September and is the first of a new generation of Mazda vehicles featuring Mazda’s breakthrough SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY, and the ‘KODO – soul of motion’ design theme.
Mazda’s radical new SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY encompasses the whole car, through the intelligent application of advanced engine, transmission, body and chassis technology and lightweight engineering. Mazda’s breakthrough SKYACTIV Technologies deliver uncompromised driving pleasure and class-leading environmental and safety performance.
The engine line-up for the Mazda CX-5 will boast Mazda’s all-new SKYACTIV-G 2.0 petrol engine and SKYACTIV-D 2.2 diesel engine. Each engine has a record-breaking compression ratio of 14:1 which improves efficiency and helps achieve exceptional environmental performance for a compact SUV. Target CO2 emissions are less than 120g/km for the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 engined model.
The all-new Mazda CX-5 is also the first Mazda production model to showcase Mazda’s new design theme, ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’. KODO design features include an outstanding new front view, a striking version of the Mazda family face and dynamic styling that carries our stylish credentials into a new era in Mazda car design.
Roll on 2012.
