FTP Hosting – Secure FTP Clients
There are so many FTP clients out there to use with your FTP Hosting but not as many support SFTP over port 22, sometimes called SCP. Secure FTP over SFTP is a relatively simply way to establish a secure connection for file transfer, compared to FTPS where multiple ports and certificates are required.
Most of us expect FTP client software for our FTP Hosting to be free and luckily there are a few quality SFTP clients out there. Here’s my preference…
- WinSCP– Normally FileZilla would be at the top but there’s just something about WinSCP for secure connections that feels better, I think its probably its interface. The huge benefit here is the WinSCP command line too that allows you to script SFTP operations, perfect!More info and download http://winscp.net/eng/index.php
- FileZilla– The trusty friend that always performs well, SFTP was introduced in recent versions so its a perfect all-rounder.More info and download http://filezilla-project.org/
- CoreFTP – Another good and free client, however it does not feel as polished as WinSCP or FileZilla.More info and download http://www.coreftp.com/
