Quick, Easy And Delicious Sandwich Recipes: Ham And Tomato

Finding both quick, easy and delicious sandwich recipes is no mean feat.

We’ve relied for years on sandwiches to fill simply fill a void without caring much for variety and flavour.

Here we look at how we can make the classicham sandwich into a gourmet meal that can rival that of a bistro main!

Ham & Tomato Sandwich

To make two yummy ham and tomato sarnies, we’re going to need four slices of bread, two or three slices of thick cut ham (preferably Wiltshire Cured or you can always ask your butcher), a large ripe tomato and a handful of curly lettuce leaves.

Before you start, slice up your tomatoes and wash your lettuce leaves – to make sure they’re not still wet when you come to use them, press them between two sheets of kitchen roll to dry them off.

So, let’s get started – arrange your dry lettuce leaves on two pieces of your bread – it doesn’t matter how much you add, it’s up to you. Although, it can give a lovely crunch and make your sarnie look all big and proud if you up the lettuce stakes. But that’s just me!

Then, we want to start layering up with our beautiful ham and tomato slices. Remember to share these between the two sandwiches (unless you’re really greedy and get a few more layers into your own.)

Season if to taste with a sprinkle of sea salt and cracked black pepper and finish off by placing the remaining bread slices on top.

Tip: Only press down gently with your palm – not fingers – when slicing as to keep your goods in place but not hard enough to turn it into a flat panini.
