Staplers – Choose Carefully!
Staplers are a tricky one. There are so many different types. Out of all our desk top accessories the stapler category gives the most choice and the biggest room for error.
So how many types of staplers are there? Well for a start, there are heavy duty staplers, long staplers, electric staplers, industrial staplers, office staplers and believe it or not there are even stapleless staplers. Don’t even ask how that one works.
Standard office staplers can come in many different formats. You can get half strip of full strip staplers, metal or plastic staplers. In theory a metal stapler will stand up the test of time. The size of staplers determines how many pages it will staple. A standard Rexel stapler staples approximately 10-12 sheets of A4 80gsm paper. A robust Rapid heavy duty stapler will staple up to 80 sheets of A4 paper at any given time. A long arm stapler will staple the tricky sheets on the inside of a booklet.
If you want a reliable stapling solution, then you should really consider sticking with the specialist brands. For example, Rexel staplers would be the best brand for standard office staplers in Ireland. Following that, Rapid and Leitz staplers would be the leading brand when it comes to heavy duty staplers in Ireland.
So once you have chosen your stapler it is vitally important to choose the correct length of staples. The standard everyday staples are referred in the industry as 26/6 staples or No 56 staples. Always look for the 5000 pack of 26/6 staples as they are by far the best value. When you go outside the standard range you have to be very careful. Heavy duty staples are specific to particular staplers. It will generally tell you on the actual stapler what size it takes.
