Kia Sportage
The first Kia Sportage model came onto the market about 15 years ago and the competitive price was the only thing which was particularly impressive. Fast forward to the new model and you will be amazed by how far the Kia brand has come.
The Sportage has been designed by the same guy who designed the Audi TT and it is rather a bold statement for Kia. The Sportage has an aggressive front and the rear windows are angled rather similarly to the Land Rover Evoque. The inside is sleek and there is plenty of space for five large adults with enough boot space for even the most serious of shopaholics.
The performance has been improved considerably since the first model made its debut too. There is a choice between petrol and diesel engines that provide punchy performance. Capable of 0-62mph in 10.9 seconds, the car has a maximum speed of 112mph and both the two and four-wheel drive versions have plenty of grip and neat handling. Corners have certainly not been cut with this model and it seems that the image of Kia being a budget brand is long gone.
The Kia Sportage is intended to compete against the Nissan Qashqai and with an attractive price tag (prices start from £17,295) it is predicted to sell well. With the winter approaching fast and a history of snowy weather over the past few years, many will be looking to put the Fiat 500 in London in the garage and get a 4×4 such as the new Sportage to tackle the conditions.
