Would you like to discover some of the largest trailer manufacturers in North America? There are many companies that exist today but some of them stand out. One of the main reasons why these companies are more recognized is because they have existed for many years. Secondly, they were able to start and nurture a strong culture of creativity, forward thinking and excellence. Their products are technologically driven, demand focused and matchless in both quality and craftsmanship. The three top companies in the US today include Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, Morgan Corporation and Wabash National ® Corporation. These three organizations have endured the tests of time and have managed to retain their leading positions in the entire continent. Let us discuss each of them below.
Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company
This is the oldest company of the three since it was initiated in 1914 by E.W Bennet and H.C Bennet. It saw all the political and financial instabilities and hardships during the World War I and World War II. Even so, Utility was able to endure everything and receive more and more orders from the U.S government. Its work for the ninety-seven years of its existence has kept on expanding and growing. From the beginning it was a manufacturer of the trailers and over the years it has not only changed their technical aspects but also the designs. Its history is a very long captivating story which indeed shows how the company has worked hard and endured over the years to reach its current position today. Its main business is to manufacture and distribute lightweight trailers and vans. It is the largest producer of refrigerated vans in the US and is the second largest producer of privately owned trailer manufacturer in the entire country. It has also expanded its business to South America, Mexico and Canada.
Morgan Corporation
The company began in 1952 and it was formed by Elton E. Moutz in Pennsylvania. It started as a tiny shop for repair of residential and farm equipment. By 1958 Elton had started to expand the shop to encompass a section for the repair and maintenance of truck and trailer equipment. Called Morgan Trailer Mfg Co by 1960, Mountz Welding, as it was formerly called, had already launched an assembly to assemble, mount and finish van bodies. Over the years especially through the eighties it recorded a huge growth record and was able to acquire a number of properties. Today is among the largest producers of refrigerated truck and freight van bodies.
Wabash National ® Corporation
This is the youngest of three as it was begun in 1985. The company is found in North America and it is specifically based in Lafayette, Indiana. Its best years when it recorded the hugest growth rate were in the nineties. It was able to introduce its top fry van product (DuraPlate®) in 1995 and four years later its production capacity for trailers went up to seventy thousand units. Now it owns two major branches including the Transcraft Corporation that it acquired in 2006 and the Webash National Manufacturing based in Lafayette. It has four regional manufacturing plants in Lafayette, Harrison, Anna and Mt.Sterling.
