Although environment advocates will encourage you to ditch printing altogether, there are times when printing materials is unavoidable. In business, although email, social media, and other modern marketing techniques allow you to communicate with customers on a paperless manner, there are times when you need to print sales letters, receipts, and business cards.

However, even if you cannot go completely paperless these days, there are ways you can do that will help you practice eco-friendly printing. If you have to create impressive letterhead printing without ditching your green advocacy, there are ways you can do that will help you do it. How? Here are some ideas you can do:

1 – Use less expensive recycled paper. You can consider a 90 brightness paper as this is more affordable. Remember though that recycled doesn’t mean less quality. You can still print high quality letterheads without sacrificing quality. Talk to your printer about the right type of recycled paper to use in your letterhead.

2 – Consider Seed paper. This is a type of paper which has a real seed on it which people can actually plant. They simply have to bury the paper and the seed will grow into flowers or trees.

3 – Opt for a soy-based or vegetable-based ink. The standard ink used by printing companies is petroleum-based. This ink when dried releases harmful emissions to the environment. If you want to practice green printing, it will be best to opt for the safer and more eco-friendly ink.

4 – Let other people know of your advocacy. You can include eco-friendly logos in your material such as the recycle and green logo. This will let your customers and prospects know that you are being responsible in printing your marketing materials.

5 – Look for a printing company that shares your advocacy. When you look for a printer you need to ask the following questions: does the printer use environment-friendly paper; does it use soy-based or vegetable-based ink; and ask for samples for their eco-friendly jobs. The answer to these questions will help you narrow down your search so you can find the perfect printer for your letterhead templates.

6 – Just write short letters. You don’t have to always write long letters. If you need to communicate with your customers and prospects, be sure to create a concise, clear, and to the point letter. This will help you save on paper, which in turn will reduce waste.

7 – Encourage your customers to reuse the paper. Tell them to use the paper as scratch or cut the letterhead and use it as source of contact details. If the letterhead uses seed paper, tell them to plant it once they are done reading.

With the growing concern for the environment, it’s high time you do your share to save our only home. Practicing green printing may seem a small effort, but the continuous effort can lead to one huge difference to the environment.
