Active Scotland 2011
If you think Scotland is only hard liquor, kilts, beards, and inviting locals, you will be surprised to hear that Scotland is one of the most active countries in Europe. Sure all the attractions, the beards, kilts, food, etc., are in abundance, one can also participate in cycling, quad biking, kayaking, walking, running, rock climbing, bouldering, bungee jumping, hang gliding, and the list goes on and on. This side of Scotland receives little attention from the media, as they seem to be fixated on the historical past of the country.
While there is still a strong connection to their heritage in Scotland, the country is also a leader when it comes to outdoor activities.
They offer such an extensive list of activities that it is difficult to understand how one could be bored in such a wonderful country. Most hotels offer special rates to their customers, as I know our Cairngorms hotel did. If you happen to be staying in one of those Luxury Glasgow Hotels ask the front desk staff about their programs, I am sure they will have one that will fit your needs. Even though our Cairngorms hotel did not provide a course in rock climbing, they were able to point us in the direction of several Luxury Glasgow hotels that had more information on the activity. 2011 will be a great year to explore Scotland, as this year is known as Active Scotland. Look for great promotions and deals throughout the country, and begin to explore everything that Scotland has to offer. I am sure you will be surprised as to how safe and entertaining these activities can be, as I know I was. So put that drink down and get away from the hotel pool for an evening. Take some time to test your physical limits, push your mental capacities, and enjoy life.
