Host possesses the local area knowledge which makes him valuable for the guest at the bed and breakfast stay.
Pratap bhawan is owned by Himanshu Rathore who resides in the house with his mother Mrs. Jaikirti Rathore. Pratap Bhawan was built by his father Late Brigadier Pratap Singhji Rathore (VSM, ADC) of Nimaj in 1980. Nimaj Jagir was a fiefdom of the erstwhile state of Jodhpur in Rajasthan.
Late Brig. Pratap Singh Rathore built Pratap Bhawan as his residence in Jaipur. Since then Pratap Bhawan has almost invariably had guests as the family has always loved playing host.
Born in Pratap Bhawan, it is but natural for Brig. Pratap Singhji’s son Himanshu to have inculcated a strong sense of hospitality.
He did his schooling at Mayo College, Ajmer and completed his college from Jai Hind College, Mumbai.
Himanshu is passionate about wildlife. Following this passion led him to work in the Jungles of Madhya Pradesh. He worked for three years with Taj Safaris a famous wildlife safari company which is run in collaboration by the Taj group of Hotels and &beyond an African safari company. Himanshu worked with Taj Safaris as a resident Naturalist at Bandhavgarh National Park, Madhya Pradesh. His work was to give an interpretative safari experience to the guests in the jungle and also to host them at the lodge. Being in the jungle, he also indulged in a lot of nature photography, glimpses of which can now be seen on the walls of Pratap Bhawan. Himanshu now runs Pratap Bhawan as a Home Stay and hosts the guests who stay with him. He also freelances, taking tours to the jungles.
