Exercise After Pregnancy and Mothers Groups

Exercise for mothers after childbirth is a very good idea and an important way to ensure the health of the mother after she has given birth. Pregnancy can take a very serious toll on a woman’s body and this is for many reasons. At once the woman has to deal with the increased weight that she will be carrying around, and her system will have to deliver nutrients to both themselves and an embryo. This can result in poor posture as well as a reduction in the nutrients and resources the Mother gets.

At the same time the Mother will be unable to move in the same way she is used to and this will mean that she can end up both gaining weight and losing muscle mass. If before pregnancy you were interested in running and jogging then you will of course have to stop these activities when you start carrying an extra passenger on board. During the later months of pregnancy it is normal to be sofa or bed bound and to wait for other people to bring you things while avoiding exertion as minimal as ascending the stairs. This can then result in an increase in blood pressure and cholesterol and to less aerobic fitness.

Through all of this the mother’s body will also be stretched in order to accommodate the child. This extra stomach is of course not fat and it will ‘disappear’ once the Mother has given birth, but not without stretching the skin and at the same time the body will be more actively storing fat both to keep the baby warm and to provide emergency sources of food.

Then there is the act of childbirth itself which is an incredibly traumatic and painful experience and one that can leave you feel exhausted and sued up. In other words, after childbirth a woman has every reason to be tired and less healthy and fit than before and getting back on the horse and getting back into shape can be a very difficult process. This is made more difficult still by the fact that you now have a child to look after who will require your care and attention and who will take up much of your time leaving little opportunity for things like exercise.

However there are many reasons to get back on the horse and to exercise once again. Not only is this important for your own health (and your baby is going to depend on you to say strong and healthy), but also to ensure you regain your figure and to prevent you from getting worse. By attending Mother’s groups you can engage in light exercise that is well suited to women who have just given birth. Here you will partake in exercise that will help you regain your tone and definition and that will give you back your confidence and fitness without placing too much strain on your body. At the same time this will give you an opportunity to get outside and meet people with your child in tow.

Exercise After Pregnancy is a great way to stay fit and healthy after giving birth. A fun way to do this is to join aMothers Groups. This will get both of you outside and into the sun.
