Maruti Swift 2011 Review and Specifications
Maruti Suzuki India Limited will once again look to consolidate its position as the numero uno car maker in the market with the launch of its bestselling car in a more racy and stylish avatar, the all new ‘Swift’. The new improved car is definitely notches higher in terms of the pickup and accelerates faster. The car is also high on power and with new K series engine it also promises to be more fuel efficient than the current Swift. The car will also have around 140 new features and tweaks which is a record of sorts for any other car in the segment until now. The car will look to rewrite the history of the Indian market by erasing its own success it created in the past.
The car is lighter with the engineers coming up with better weight management techniques which invariably lead to better power and weight distribution in the car. The new Swift is not only more robust but is also livelier and the diesel variant of the car is 6 percent better in terms of the mileage. The petrol version also not wanting to be left behind offers an improvement of four percent in terms of the fuel efficiency. This time the company has included the VVT engine technology for all the gasoline models of the Swift. The diesel on the other hand is run by the DDiS engine for better power.
The company has in fact invested close to 550 crore for the development of the new Swift and this clearly shows in the notches the car has moved higher. The Swift is already a force to reckon with sales figures of over 600,000 units in 6 years making it the leader in the premium compact segment. The company has no doubts about the success of the new Swift and is pretty sure the car will carry on the reign of dominance without much trouble.
On the debut of the new Swift, Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki said, “We have launched the new Swift at a time when there was significant demand for the outgoing model. To be exact the new Swift comes with improved Fuel efficiency and best-in-class acceleration with petrol engine delivering up to 18.6 kmpl. The car hits the 0-100 kmph in 12.6 sec for the gasoline model and the diesel delivers a mileage of 22.9 kmpl .The diesel does the 0-100 kmph in 14.8 sec.The K series engine is clearly more robust with 1.2 litre K-series engine with VVT technology which delivers a torque of 114 Nm at 4000 rpm and a power of 87 ps at 6000 rpm. The diesel is run by the award winning 1.3 litre DDiS engine and delivers a torque of 190 Nm at 2000 rpm. The car delivers a power of 75 PS at 4000 rpm.
