Years before Texas ever became a state, Texians William Barrett Travis, James Bowie and Davey Crockett bravely defended the Alamo against General Santa Anna and the powerful Mexican Army. Though defeated at the Alamo, the battle was a defining moment for the Texians, eventually inspiring the deciding moment between Texas and the Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto. Just a short walk from the Alamo is the famous San Antonio River Walk. This paved walkway along the San Antonio River winds through the city’s downtown, through inviting shops, colorful art galleries, lavish hotels and some of the finest Tex-Mex restaurants in all of Texas. In addition to these great downtown destinations, San Antonio also is home to two of the state’s most popular theme parks, Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. And if the outdoors is your thing, numerous lakes, rivers and nature areas reserved for hunting, fishing and site seeing surround San Antonio. When you look at it, there’s not much you can’t do in the Alamo City, which must be why the San Antonio real estate market is flourishing as well as it is.
