Blankets are very important as they protect you during the chilly winter. But, it is more important for infants who are more susceptible towards the variations in weather and the falling temperature. Many of you might think what is the big deal in buying baby blankets? But you should know that unlike you they are more prone to any irritations and care needs to be taken in the right manner or else a simple mistake could lead to serious health problems.
While choosing the baby blankets you need to think about three important parameters. These are comfort, safety and the design.
Comfort:
You should ensure that the blanket can by no means slide above the baby’s head and cause complications. You will obviously not like the idea of waking up in the mid of the night due to your baby’s cries just because it was not feeling comfortable in the blanket or it felt constricted for leg space. You should know that while sleeping, babies tend to flaunt their legs or hands so you should look out for a blanket which allows these movements or sudden jerks quite smoothly. A slippery blanket will be ideal but then there is a risk that the blanket will slip from the body and the child will be exposed to the chills. So, you must look out for something that can solve both these problems.
Safety:
Blankets with lots of fur or loosely held furs tend to shed their furs and that might cause irritation and even allergies to your child. You should ensure that the blanket is made of pure natural wool or cotton because they will help keep your baby warm and since there is nothing artificial so the baby will not be exposed to any artificial materials. Though there are many attractive designs but your concern should be to choose the blanket that is helpful for bringing up a green baby or more elaborately, the baby with natural surroundings and materials.
Design:
This should be the last in the chronological order and only when the above two criteria are being met then you can go for suitable designs. Yes, there are lots of variations from which you can choose one that matches your interest. But as mentioned earlier, this is the last parameter and it entirely depends on your choice. So, you can think how your baby will look when huddled in the blanket and choose one that attracts you.
