Increasing number of Germans embracing Islam?
The study that is funded by new interior ministry on the Muslim life in Germany has observed number of Germans embracing Islam. This is reported as per the magazine by name Weekly Der Spiegel. In another study that was conducted by the Islam-Archive central institute that is situated in western town of Soest, the people who were transformed into Muslims during the period between July 2004 and June 2005 were 4 times higher than the previous number of conversions. The head of the institution called Salim Abdullah reported from the study that the people who were converted from German to Islam were mostly women and they are all highly educated.
A Muslim leader who is based from Berlin called as Mohammed Herzog was not clear about the reason for increase in the number of conversions into Islam. But, he was confirmedly saying that the people who got converted to Muslims were previously very devoted Christians. They used to have doubts regarding their belief earlier and hence decided to embrace Islam.
The reports say that there are nearly 3.5 million Muslims in Germany and most of them belonged to Turkey and Yugoslavia. One of the organizations that identify German Muslims is the central council on Muslims and the Islamic council. The conversions are increasing as more number of people is looking for novel lifestyles and a direction of life path. The Germans were observed to be attracted towards Islam due to the easy religious procedures, solidarity, social harmony and its importance in the area of anti-racism. Every year the reports revealed by the central institute on Islam archives evaluate that about 12,400 people having born in Germany are Muslims. This institute will issue around 350 to 400 documents in German and Arabic along with identity photographs every year which act as a proof of identity for conversion into Islam.
