Road Tripping In Incredible India

India as a country has its fair share of limitations, especially when it comes to transportation and getting from point A to point B. the bad condition of the roads, the lack of pavements which causes more pedestrians than cars to be on the road. And of course there isn’t any lack of bad drivers in our country. Considering the joke our driving tests are compared to anywhere else in the world its no surprise why there are so many people driving around the place as if they are playing a game of bumper cars. And who can forget the taxi drivers all over the city, swerving from one side of the road to the other without any indication. Even the traffic we have to endure everyday while going to work is just mind racking.

However, the one way you could avoid all this to an extent, would be by taking a road trip to your desired holiday destination. a road trip is one scenario where one would love driving, I personally find road trips the best way of going on a vacation. The sheer thrill of driving to your destination is an absolutely exhilarating feeling which no train or flight can beat. Though flights and trains are quicker and more convenient, but taking a road trip is a vacation in itself. All the things that happen along the way, the places you take a pit stop, the people you meet and the beautiful landscape that surrounds you while driving on the highways, make for memories which last a lifetime. In the Indian subcontinent there is no shortage of places to see and holiday destinations to visit. There is a list of the most taken road trips of which there is guaranteed to be at least a few that would suit your preference. Right from the very extreme road trip from Manali to Leh to the easy Mumbai Pune drive, there’s definitely one that would be you cup of tea. Mumbai to Goa, Delhi to Jaipur and then Pushkar, Bangalore to Coorg, Mumbai to Pune, Shillong to Cherrapunji are some of the most taken road trips in the country.

I read a travelogue about a person who took of on a road trip across the Golden Triangle which is Delhi to Agra to Jaipur, in his maruti astar with two of his buddies. He wrote about the various things they did on the way to each one of these places, considering this is one of the most frequented routes taken by travelers, there are numerous historical sites he visited along the way. When he started in Delhi he went to the Red Fort and Jama Masjid and then they moved along to see the most beautiful historic site in our country, the Taj Mahal and then to the Agra Fort. Then they moved along toward Jaipur, where they visited the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary along the way. After finally reaching Jaipur they went to the City Palace and Amber Fort before heading back towards Delhi. This shows how much more fun road trips can be, and its something all of us should do once in a while.
