Chicago is one of the largest cities in the United States. Chicago is most crowded city in the Midwestern United States and it is third most crowded city in the United States after the New York and Los Angeles. Chicago has almost 2.7 million populations.The metropolitan area of Chicago is also known as the Chicago land which is the third largest area in the United States. This metropolitan area is the 27th most over crowded area in the world with almost 9.8 million populations in the three US states of Wisconsin, lllinois and Indiana.Chicago was founded as a town in 1833, near tan area between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River watershed. Now, the city has its status as a main center for industry, telecommunications and infrastructure and O’Hare International Airport which is the second busiest airport in the world for the traffic movements.

And in 2010 the Chicago’s urban area has the 4th largest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) between world metropolitan areas after the Tokyo, New York City, and Los Angeles. The city of Chicago is a hub for finance, business and services. Chicago is famous and listed one of the world’s top ten Global Financial Centers. In a 2010 survey alliance between Foreign Policy and A.T Kearney ranking cities, they ranked Chicago has 6th after Paris and Hong Kong.For the ranking of the cities there were five dimensions which are value of assets markets, assortment of human capital, worldwide information resources, international cultural resources, and political power. Chicago has a monopoly of the Democratic Party and has been habitat to many powerful politicians, also the home of current President of the United States, Barack Obama.Chicago has many nicknames which gives the opinion and impression about the historical and current Chicago. The best and famous nicknames are Chi-town, Windy City. City of Big Shoulders and the Second city.

The climate of Chicago is different for four seasons. Summers in Chicago are hot and moist; the average temperature in July is about 29 degree centigrade. The weather in winters is cool, windy and snowy. The average temperature in January is abot 23.5 degree centigrade.Chicago has very strong education system. In Chicago there are 675 public schools, 394 private schools, 83 colleges and also 88 libraries. Chicago has also known as the Best Sports City in the United States.The Chicago has 552 parks and the areas covered by the parks are almost 7300 acres. The largest park of the Chicago city is Lincoln Park which has the area of 1200 acres.The crime rate is very high in the Chicago. The rate of murders exceeds first in 1974. Government is taking many steps but it is very difficult to overcome this problem. Chicago has 28 sister cities. The sister cities are also the main cities of their country.
