A Walking Tour of Restaurants in Belgravia

Belgravia is one of London’s most exclusive districts. Defined by high-class living and celebrity style, Belgravia’s glamour is matched only by its fantastic cuisine. With its high concentration of quality restaurants Belgravia can arguably be considered London’s culinary capital.

There are so many fantastic Restaurants in Belgravia that you could write a hefty guidebook detailing the vast variety of food available in this area alone. If you’re planning a flying visit to Belgravia, however, it is well worth taking a stroll through its elegant streets to check out some of the cuisine on offer. I’ve put together this walking tour which takes in some of the best restaurants in Belgravia, and should only take between 20 minutes and half an hour to complete. Hopefully this should give you a good idea of the marvellous menus that you can enjoy in this famously foodie-friendly district of London.

Our tour starts at Mango Tree, located at 46 Grosvenor Place – just at the corner of Hobart Place and opposite Buckingham Palace Gardens. Mango Tree is one of the finest Thai restaurants in Belgravia, and has won numerous awards for its excellent service and even more impressive menu. If you have the chance to pop in, you can marvel at its mixture of modern decor and traditional Thai dishes.

Continue walking in a southerly direction down Grosvenor Place before turning right down Ebury Street. Turn left when you reach Eccleston Street and you’ll find yourself in front of Boisdale of Belgravia, with its distinctive red frontage. Boisdale boasts a lively bar, hearty Scottish food and live music every night – making it one of the most relaxed and revelrous restaurants in Belgravia.

Just round the corner at 2 Eccleston Place is da Scalzo, an Italian brasserie that is unique among restaurants in Belgravia with its combination of excellent food and contemporary art. Like Boisdale, da Scalzo hosts live music events along with fantastic food.

Five or six minutes walk away is The Ebury – to find it, continue south down Eccleston Place and turn left at Elizabeth Street. Take an immediate right onto Buckingham Palace Road. Continue south until you reach a crossroad, and finally turn right onto Pimlico Road. The Ebury is just a little further down this road. Housed in an impressive building, The Ebury features a large bar and a private dining room – but the real draw is its stylish yet unfussy restaurant. This serves excellent seafood and meat dishes which, despite their quality, remain resolutely affordable – making the Ebury one of the most wallet-friendly restaurants Belgravia has to offer.

To reach your final destination, you’ll have to go back on yourself slightly. Turn around and walk back up Pimlico Road, but take a quick left onto Avery Farm Row. Another immediate left takes you onto Cundy Street – walk in a northwesterly direction, crossing over to Eaton Terrace. Further along the road, you’ll find the Duke of Wellington Pub – it isn’t a restaurant as such, but after viewing so many restaurants in Belgravia, it is the perfect place to have a cold drink, take in some local atmosphere and plan which of the fine Belgravia restaurants you’ll book for your next visit.
