Guhagar – The Land of Pristine Beaches

Guhagar is situated on west coast of India. It is situated between Sahyadri mountain range and Arabian Sea. The word Guhagar means cave house in the local language. Guhagar is a scenic town with hilly terrain. It is a perfect tropical paradise for tourists. The virgin beaches and exquisite temples make this a favorite destination for tourists.

The beaches of Guhagar are the main attractions for tourists. The Guhagar Beach is very beautiful and very popular. Guhagar beach covers an area of six kilometers. It stretches from Asgoli village to Baug. This happens to be major attraction for all tourists as it is breathtakingly beautiful!

Tourists can also visit the serene and peaceful beach, Budhal. The virgin beach with yellowish sand is a perfect place to relax and soak up some sun. Budhal village is sparsely populated with only about fifty houses. During high tide ( specially during rainy season ) its mesmerizing to see the clear waters as it gushes along the shore and hits the basalt rock formation along the shoreline. Walks on this beach are peaceful and relaxing.

At an approximate distance of 12.50 kilometer there is the Palshet Beach. Palshet is a small town on Guhagar- Hedvi road. Not many people know about this small beach and so this secluded beach is perfect to relax. The Beach side is a perfect place to spend one evening with family and friends. Recently archaeologists have discovered Waghbil cave or Musrundi cave, on Palshet. Palshet is also good for scuba diving.

There is another beautiful beach south of Guhagar. It is the Velneshwar Beach. The Velneshwar temple is also worth a visit. Tourists should never swim in this water. One more tourist attraction is Baman Ghal on Hedvi beach. This beautiful natural wonder is a gorge (narrow path) in the black rock patch.

The Borya bunder (port) is a typical tiny village and is well worth a visit. Karul is yet another small village very close by. Majority of local people are fisherman by profession. Walking towards Budhal beach along the sea line is a great way to explore Guhagar. This walkway runs over a small hill which touches the sea on the western side. The three sides of this small hillock provide the most amazing view of the surroundings.

There are many beach cottages available around for tourists. The nearest airport is Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai. It is also well connected by roads and rails.
