When to visit Shimla, and how to get there

The best time to plan your Shimla tour would be between April and August, or September and November, if you do not enjoy the snow cover.
Shimla is easily accessible via rail, air and road. If travelling by air, your flight arrives at Jubbhartti airport, 30 km away from Shimla.

If you love to travel by train, then you should take a ride in the Shimla Toy Train, departing from Kalka. This toy train has been declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site, and that route from Kalka to Shimla is an attraction for itself- not only you will enjoy amazing landscapes, but you will also pass trough103 tunnels, the longest being 1,1 km. There are 900 curves that take 70% of the tracks length. Usually, it is a three hour long journey.
