AICTE process probable to delay tech admissions

The admissions to the pharmacy, engineering, master of computer application (MCA) and master of business administration (MBA) are likely to be deferred. The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has recently extended the last date for receiving application for starting new colleges till January 31st 2012 .

This is the third revision of the deadline for receiving suggestions for the new college. Officials in Gujarat Technological University (GTU) said with January 31 scheduled to be the last date, the AICTE will approve the colleges till May-June and this would again delay the admission procedure as last minute approvals will force the admission committee for professional courses (ACPC) to go in for reshufflings.

Sources said that AICTE had earlier determined to complete the process by the end of December last so that the academic sessions of the newly-granted colleges are not postponed.
