Palm Treo 680 Review
The Treo 680 is a fantastic full featured smartphone. It is an advancement of the Treo 650 which offers a lighter and thinner case and no antenna stub. The Treo 680 is packed with lots of goodies including a QWERTY keyboard, EDGE data communication, Palm OS smartphone software, touch screen for easy data input, a decent VGA camera and the ability to add additional memory.
What I really liked about the Treo 680 is the slim form factor and the very bright and easy to view screen. The styling is great along with the easy to view display screen. The sliding QWERTY keyboard makes it a breeze to enter text or data. The Treo 680 comes also with a touch screen. I like the added functionality of the touch screen, but still continue to enter data through traditional methods.
Another plus is the Palm operating system; navigation and performing functions is a breeze with the operating system that comes installed. There are also one touch buttons that can help you connect to contacts or if you need to access your calendar.
A great feature is the VGA camera. While it won’t replace your digital camera, it does take quality images for a smart phone. Taking lots of pictures isn’t a problem; the Treo 650 comes with basic onboard memory and also a slot for SD memory cards.
Regarding the phone, making calls is very easy and the call and volume quality is perfect. I had no problems with dropped calls, static or the other party not being able to hear me.
One of the things they need to improve is the battery life. Unfortunately, the battery does lose its charge very quickly, in some cases in only a half day or a few hours. If you need to conserve the battery, make sure you close down your web apps and limit your digital camera use.
Pros
-Slim design and no antenna stub
-Great features and true functionality
-Perfect for road warriors or professionals
-SD memory card slot
-Decent digital camera
-Bluetooth capability
Cons
-Battery life is poor; you should either carry a spare battery with you or use high energy apps less often
-Can be pricey
Overall
The Palm Treo 680 is a great smart phone that is filled with easy to use and practical features. For the most part, this device is a good buy, but there are some things that should be improved in future versions.
