Mobile Surveillance System – How to set it up?

In today’s arena everybody loves to remain mobile yet connected with their day to day home and business activities. Mobile surveillance has helped a lot in this matter. It acts as third eye of a person which constantly keeps supervising given tasks and one can regularly take update or can remain live in touch mode. Technology is so efficient that mobile cameras can send feeds directly to the 2G or 3G smart phones with the help of IP network. This has enabled us to have access and control any camera we own, no matter where we are and how far we are from the cameras.

Mobile surveillance is useful in many ways like;

  1. A Consulting Surgeon can instruct or monitor the surgery operations going on by his fellow surgeons in the hospital when he is at other location or on go.
  2. A working mother can monitor the nanny or babysitters while she is on go.
  3. An Expert can conduct lecture for his or her students while he or she is on move.
  4. An Industrialist can monitor the work going on in his office or factory while he is enjoying Maldives.
  5. Law enforcement bodies can review environment of Sensitive regions of the city or town. They can also spy on suspected peoples’ movement.

Infrastructure Required to have complete setup of Mobile surveillance system:

  1. Smart phone: Actually it depends upon the complexity of our requirements which kind of phone will be suitable. To view images sent by camera one can rely on normal multimedia phone with internet connectivity. To view live video feed one has to have a smart phone.
  2. Configuration Tools: Configuration tools are required to connect with IP camera and manage scheduling of feed, encoding of video or snapshots, to connect with external devices like door triggers, motion sensors, etc.

Configuring your system depends on what you want the system to do. For simple snapshots sent to your email you can directly configure the settings on the camera. You may decide how often, and when the snapshots are sent, or even set up different triggers such as movement or times. External devices such as alarms or motion detectors can also be programmed to set off the camera.

For live feed you have the option of not only sending the video feed to your phone, but to back up this data in a high quality format in addition to your phone media feed. This will allow you to have an idea of what you are seeing through the cameras, and if needed, you may log on at home to view suspicious activity in a higher quality format.

In most cases where video surveillance advertises mobile support, there is an “app for that” you may obtain through your cell phone carrier or a third party. This is a program on your phone that will allow you to access the feed from your camera to your mobile. Some software includes advanced options where you may control your camera from just about anywhere.

  1. Configuration of other devices: IP based network cameras are not the only device used for mobile surveillance, other devices like CCTV, DVR, NVR, etc. can also be configured for remote access.
