Importance of an assisted living place

I moved to my actual house, nine years ago, I was 17 years old and I was new in town so I didn’t know anybody.  Next door, an old lady lived. I always thought that she was cold and mean, but the truth is that one day, the kids from school were teasing me and my old neighbor defended me. Since than I visited her every single day, Sarah, that’s her name, invited me every day with tea and cakes. We become very close and very good friends. Sarah told me a lot of stories of her life, and I was fascinated with all the places that she lived. I have learned to not judge, even more so of senior people. Sarah had no money, her house was paid for by her son, Isaac, who was living in Brooklyn and sent her money every month but the unexpected happened.. Isaac needed to move to another country and Sarah hadn’t any place to go. I started reading articles and I found assisted living places very affordable. After talking with Sarah she finally agreed, but she wasn’t very happy.

The first week in the assisted living places I visited her and she told me that she was feeling fantastic and everybody there treated her very well. I was very happy for Sarah, after all she was my friend and I wanted the best for her. I visited her almost everyday and our friendship was growing and growing  very fast.

She always cooked me cakes with the help of her new friends in the assisted living home and nurses, they are excellent people and they really love their job, that’s wonderful. Sarah does really love me, and I love her, she was a very special person in my life.

Three days ago, Sarah died, she was very old and she died of natural causes, but until the last day she didn’t stop thanking me for giving her the most wonderful nine years of her life and that she had found peace and happiness. It was an excellent experience for both of us.

So trust me if you know of someone that needs an assisted living place check it out, after all they deserve the best for the remainder of their lives as well.
