All you have to remember is to make sure you’ve prepared ahead of time and be present-minded during the whole ceremony. Here are some of the tips that might help you.
- The cap should be worn horizontally, keeping the board on top horizontal. This prevents it from easily falling. The crown must snugly fit slightly above the eyebrows, approximately an inch, to secure it in place.
- Avoid placing the cap on one side of the head. It falls easily when worn in this manner.
- For females or males with long hair, keeping your hair in a simple ponytail makes securing the cap a lot easier. Avoid sporting complicated hair styles. Add some gel or hair spray to increase the friction between your hair and the cap.
- Secure the cap with bobby pins. Put them on each side of the head by pair, creating a crisscross.
- Remember to keep the tassel on the right side of the cap before you receive your diploma. Remove your cap during the National Anthem.
- The graduation gown should be pressed before wearing. Prevent wrinkles from forming by sitting up straight.
- Low collared dresses and long sleeved shirts can add form to the gown. It’s advisable to wear them. Men should wear a tie to add formality to the whole look. For modesty, women should avoid wearing revealing dresses under the gown.
- Generally, the gown should be big enough to allow movement but not too big that it becomes difficult to manage.
- Your cap and gown should be prepared days prior to your graduation day. In this way you’ll have enough time to get it fixed if you want some adjustments made.
