LEARNING ABOUT WEBSITES
I recall the time when I first heard about the internet and websites and my first reaction to being told what these things were. At the time I was told that the internet was a place where you could look up any piece of information that you required, regarding anything at all and someone somewhere will have written about it and made it available. My initial reaction was that “yes, that place called a library!”
Years later I still love going to the library and I still think that the atmosphere and the sense of peace you get in a library is unique, but I must confess that in order to gain swift access to information, I , along with 90% of the world, use the internet. The first computer we had in our home when we were growing up was the standard bulky one that was available everywhere but we had it in black and my sister named it Damien! I can still remember that nights that we pretended to be asleep and instead, we played games, with “Roland in Time” and “Tetris” being the firm favourites.
Later on we progressed to the newer type of home computer and now we all enjoy internet access on our laptops and phones, but we still talk about Damien! Once I started to use the internet I was convinced that it was certainly useful and I started to learn more about it. Even now I only know the basics but that is enough to get me through and allow me to do my work and play a few games as well as shop online.
Last week I was trying to explain to my middle child what a website was and I think she got most of what I was saying. I explained that a website is a document which is made up of a collection of web pages which contain information about a certain thing and that these pages can include written text, images, music and video. Also that there are certain websites which are free whereas there are others for which you need to subscribe to, to access all or partial pages of the content.
She then asked me why would people choose to visit one website over another and I explained about Web SEO services and SEO experts. I told her how these people have the job of making sure that the website which belongs to their clients will come up on the top of the results pages of the search engine so that more people will choose this website over another. They make it more appealing and accessible and this leads to potential customers visiting that website and so making more money for the owners of the website.
She agreed that she only looks at the first page of the results and only picks the ones which interest her and managed to understand just what the SEO consultants did, and the job of SMM-SMO
