As per the legend of this shrine, Bhairavnath was cruel and he was teasing goddess but the goddess hid in the cave. He reached there and the goddess took the form of Chandi in order to kill him. The fact of the matter remains that Bhairavnath was doing this only to get salivated from the hand of the goddess.
