You Have a Choice with Heathrow Airport Parking

When it comes to Heathrow airport parking, it’s good to know that you have a wide range of parking services to choose from. As the third busiest airport in the world with the highest passenger traffic in the EU, it’s only natural that there is a great demand for parking slots at or near Heathrow airport. That’s why, if you’re a regular air traveller, it’s useful to be familiar with the different locations open to you and the services they offer.

Parking within the airport premises is managed by BAA which also operates the airport itself. The company offers five different parking services to provide convenient parking depending upon the different needs of passengers. Long Stay parking is designed to meet the requirements of passengers who are going on a holiday or a long business trip lasting for several days or more. There are three car parks devoted to Long Stay servicing Terminals 1, 3, 4 and 5. Short Stay parking next to each of the terminals is ideal for those staying up to five hours. Business Parking is intended for businessmen who usually have tight time schedules. The car parks are located closer to the terminals for faster access. Valet Parking as well as pick-up and drop-off services are also offered, the former especially useful for large families or travellers with plenty of luggage.

Within the airport itself, there are other car parks like the Park and Fly and the Pink Elephant which are close to the terminal with transfer times of 5 minutes or less. Long Stay Terminals 1 – 3 handles about 5,000 vehicles but transfer times can take up to 10 minutes.

If you can’t or don’t want to park within the airport premises, you can choose from a number of car parks in the vicinity of the airport. The largest one is the Purple Parking compound which can accommodate 13,000 vehicles and is located about 15 minutes away from Heathrow airport. There is no minimum stay requirement and it is open all year round. Other off airport car parks are Park 4 Less, Airways Cranford and Q Park Flyaway. You need to take transfer shuttles to the terminal but the inconvenience of off airport car parks is partially offset by their lower rates.

The various car parks provide services similar to that of the BAA parking facility like Long Stay, Short Stay, Business and Valet parking. Charges can vary from under £20 for one day Long Stay parking to a little over £50 for 24 hours of Short Stay parking.

On airport or off, car parks are properly protected with fences and CCTV cameras. Guards regularly patrol the car parks to ensure the safety of vehicles parked there. Booking slots at the car parks can be done by driving up to the park or booking for space online. Companies that provide car park services encourage online booking by offering lower rates or special discounts. Many of these companies provide price comparisons on their web sites making it easy to find Heathrow Airport parking at the most advantageous rates.
