Always nice to get a road victory and take the season series against a division rival, especially the one that kept us from the playoffs last season.
Jeff Skinner Jersey Skinner really did play well, which was great to see. He and his linemates really had one hell of a game. Chad continues to show us why we aren’t NHL General Managers. And Jussi played his best game in I don’t know how long. Ruutu also looked good for his first game back.
But Staal did not have a good game. I don’t share the same feeling as Paladin regarding his game as a whole, but he was weak tonight. Did he catch Bowman’s flu bug? Was he adjusting to getting Ruutu back on his line? Was he saving something for tomorrow afternoon? I don’t know, but he needs to play better.
Eric Staal Jersey I do find in interesting that it looks like this will be Staal’s first year since his rookie season that he doesn’t record at least one hat trick. He has seemed to work on his faceoffs and his passing had also seemed to improve; but maybe this upcoming offseason he should work on the thing that he never seemed to have trouble doing, scoring!
What I’d prefer is that the Hurricanes find a big, fast, highly skilled, physical forward with a mean streak who’d put the other team’s stars on the deck at appropriate times. That player needs to be on Skinner’s line. The NHL officiating is pathetic and the standard of incompetence devolves late in the season and into the playoffs. Until then, Skinner has to protect himself as best he can within the flow of the game.
