Buy your dad a great book for father’s day
It has already reached the time of year when we have to start thinking about what to get our dads for father’s day. With your mum’s equivalent so close by, it is worth starting to think about what you are going to get your father when his day comes in June this year.
Many people struggle every single year to get their dad a present that matches up to the one they get their mum for mother’s day; perhaps because mother’s day has a few mainstays that you cannot go wrong with. But when it is time to get your father a present, what can you do to avoid buying him the same old same old?
Think about what your dad does in his free time, if he has any. If he enjoys reading, then you have a lot to go on from the word go. There are a number of different books you can get him, and with a few expert suggestions, you are sure to find something your dad will enjoy reading.
The first stop is probably the charts; find the latest bestseller, or a particularly hyped book from recent times, and have a sneak peak at his shelf to see if it is already there. If your father does not generally read newer books, or if he already has it, it might be worth trying a different type of book entirely.
A book about a particular interest of his cannot fail to please; whether he has something similar or not, he will always be pleased to hear about things he likes, and it will show you know him well. For example, if your papa likes walking, a collection of great walking routes could be a good way to go. Likewise a factual book about a period of history he enjoys films from and documentaries about could be a good choice too. Battles That Changed the Course of History could be a great present if your father is interested in World War 1 or 2, or even older wars.
If you prefer something a little more light hearted, how about getting your dad a joke book? Senior Moments is an interesting and funny read, which should keep your papa entertained for a while. For a younger dad, the Urban Dictionary is even funnier, and gives him to opportunity to laugh at the youth of today, as well as keeping up with the latest terms and words. No matter what your father is into, there is sure to be a book that will suit him this father’s day.
With father’s day just around the corner, there is sure to be a book that will keep him entertained; so if you are looking for some father’s day gift ideas, there are more unusual gifts for men than a good read.
