The Skoda Fabia is small little hatchback from the big car maker. Yes, the Indian market is one of the hottest places for small cars. Not because the audience cannot afford but it suites the congested and crowded roads. Off course, quality does matter or else we have the seen the fate of the Tata Nano. The Indian market today is in fact ruled by these very small hatchbacks starting with the likes of the Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20, Ford Figo etc. The ŠKODA Fabia is a small city car that offers you the space and versatility required for everyday life.

The Fabia comes in hatchback, estate (Fabia Combi) and saloon (Fabia Sedan) body styles world over and is based on the Volkswagen Polo platform. The Fabia is agile and steers and grips well, aided by ESP and the XDS electronic differential system, which operates for the most part quite unobtrusively. This is all channeled through the DSG seven-speed robotized manual gearbox, itself capable of working in full auto mode or via a pair of steering wheel mounted paddles. The suspension copes with nasty bumps with ease, while the steering is light and accurate.

In terms of the interiors the Skoda Fabia comes with newly designed stereos, steering wheels and upholsteries improving the feeling of style and quality in the Fabia. The soft touch surfaces and ergonomically laid out controls make the car a joy to drive. With outstanding boot space, headroom and legroom, lots of room for luggage, driver and passengers can travel in comfort.

To say it feels basic is being unfair to the car, as there’s all the standard equipment you’re likely to need and the simplicity of the cabin is appreciable as well. For a start, it does all the normal hatchback things such as seating five occupants, have a decent boot and it feels at home in a multi-storey car park. The car responds well on the straight speeds and the curves and it does not mind going flat out. The exterior features include bigger bumpers with integrated fog lamps up front, new 16in alloys, and an optional tail gate spoiler.

The Skoda Fabia with its inspiration from the Volkswagen makes it a car of good build quality. Even the entry level Skoda feels solidly built. This quality is ensured across all the Fabia’s as to the larger cars, so it’s unlikely that any owner will have major problems.

The practicality of five doors, economy, quality and keen pricing are compelling plus points for the Fabia making it a top contender in the hatchback segment. The sleek hatchback brings all the comforts and roominess of a luxury sedan in a small car making it compact at the same time.

The Skoda Fabia safety features include front seat belt pretensioners, dual air bags, Motor Speed Regulator (MSR), dual Brake Assist System and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), EBC (Engine Braking Control) and Dual Rate Brake Assist, adjustable seat belts and child proof door and window locking that ensures high quality security for the driver and passengers.
