Though, the company has not made any official announcement, but there are confirmations from the auto industry sources that this car is going to be launched in 6 variants i.e. 3 petrol and 3 diesel in-line options.
Earlier, in January, this year, Maruti Suzuki showcased the Ertiga at the Auto Expo Delhi 2012 that was a real eye-catcher. Coming to the technical specifications of Ertiga, it would be powered by a 1.4 liter K-Series petrol engine that churns peak power of 93 bhp with its maximum torque of 130 Nm. It also said that Ertiga petrol is going to have ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 16.02 kmpl. The Maruti Ertiga is expected to carry modern dynamics somewhat resembling to its hatchback siblings, Maruti Swift and Maruti Ritz. Its front profile would incorporate long headlamps, front grille with Maruti badge and fog lamps on the front body colored bumpers. Furthermore, the side and rear profile of this MUV would also be enticing as its front. It is quite clear that the Ertiga will be a seven seater machine and will have ample of comforts & features for the passengers. We will have to wait till the launch, to see if this car is critically applauded by the enthusiasts or not.
As of now, the company has not given any details about the price of this MUV, but speculations are that this car is going to come in the range of 7 – 9 lakhs. Maruti Suzuki’s parental unit, Suzuki Motors will also launch Ertiga in the Indonesian auto-market, ten days after its launch in India.
Maruti Suzuki has been pretty decent in terms of small cars sales for over years and its MPV segment is limited to small MUVs like Maruti Eeco and Maruti Omni, but with the launch of Ertiga on domestic shores, the company might be looking forward to have competition with popular MPVs like Toyota Innova, Chevrolet Tavera Neo3, Mahindra Bolero and Mahindra Xylo.
