Hyundai Sonata 2012 arriving on shores soon
Finally, the suspense of new Hyundai Sonata launch is out. It is all clear now that Hyundai Motors India Ltd (HMIL) would launch its luxury saloon, new Sonata in this week. In January at the Auto Expo Delhi 2012, the company showcased a prototype of this saloon that took away the attention of many enthusiasts. Earlier too, the company introduced the Sonata but its high cost compared to the rivals and its availability in lesser features had been the major cause of its low sales. Learning from the previous mistakes, Hyundai Motors would now the Sonata 2012 with all the modern safety & convenience features. Moreover, this time the Hyundai Sonata would be available through CKD, which means its price is going to cheaper and competitive. Expectations are that the company would bring it on the domestic shores somewhere around Rs. 14 – 16 lakh.
The company will introduce this ultimate three-box with a 2.4 liter GDI petrol engine that is expected to have caliber to churn maximum power of 201 PS at 6300 rpm peak torque of 25.5 kgm at 4250 rpm. The engine of new Fluidic Sonata would be mated by 6 speed manual or automatic transmission. The new Sonata won’t have any diesel inline that can be its major setback.
The exterior of new Hyundai Sonata is inspired from the iconic ‘fluidic’ design of Hyundai. The long front bonnet with V shaped lines, parallel chrome front grille, alluring high intensity Xenon headlamps, exotic rear lamps, sporty twin chrome exhausts, 17 inches alloy wheels, body colored ORVMs with turn indicators makes the entire profile of this car symmetrically crafted and adorable.
The interiors of new Sonata are also going to be the premium ones. The seats of this car would be mated by premium leather upholstery, while the dash board will have the best quality plastics. Furthermore, the dash & instrument cluster will have wooden and chrome finish that would make the interiors more attractive. To cater maximum comforts to the passengers, the new Sonata would be blessed with features like dual AC vents with climate control, audio USB AUX with iPod connectivity and 6-CD changer, Paddle shift, 10-way adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, 4-way adjustable co-driver’s seat, push button start, cruise control, rear arm-rest with built in remote control and power outlet etc.
On the other hand, to avail maximum safety to the occupants, the company will equip it with features like 6 Airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability program (ESP) and Rear view camera with Park Assist etc.
