Health reports compulsory for CBSE students

Students will now have to split their medical history and health records with their school, according to a current circular from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The board has asked CBSE schools to make sure that parents provide the significant documents at the time of admission and teachers update these at usual period. The move is aimed at preventing the extend of diseases. The circular was uploaded on the CBSE website last month.

As per the new orders, the child’s record must contain details of immunisation against various diseases They will also have to share any medical history of serious illnesses, allergies, and any previous surgeries.

CBSE has offered a format for verifying records that all CBSE schools have to follow. The circular cautioned schools against conducting external medical examinations or transfer without the parents’ knowledge. “The child’s medical history should be available in case of an emergency,” said a CBSE official.
