Puppies – What You Need To Know

Puppies usually grow very fast after birth and their skin color changes as they grow. If you love them and desire to have one in your home, then you need to understand how the puppies grow, eat, their health, there social life and general cleanliness for you to be able to take good care of them. Like any other animal, puppies also need good and conducive environment to live and they need to interact with people and other dogs for them to feel part of the family.
Puppies are usually separated from their mother at an early age. That is, they are separated when there ears and eyes are open and don’t depend on their mother any more for their survival. The puppies are usually very social animals that usually use most of their time socializing with their surrounding which include human beings and other animals. That is why; they are usually separated from their mother at this stage of socialization in order to be able to socialize with the owner. This period of socializing usually occurs few weeks after birth and it is a very critical stage, because, if they don’t socialize they will have a lot of problems when it comes to how they behave.
The socialization period helps the puppies to identify its own species and help in habituating to stimuli that it comes across. Socialization usually occurs when the puppies are three weeks old. Three weeks old means they can seek interaction from people besides the mother. For your puppy to be able to learn how to socialize, well you don’t be in a hurry to separate it from the mother. Give it at least four weeks more, so that it can learn good interaction skills from the mother.
You can as well help the puppy to learn how to socialize by petting, taking a walk with the puppy and sometimes playing with them. This will make the puppy friendlier to you and your family. Expose your puppy to people and other dogs or puppies, so that it does not fear people or fear other dogs when they meet. The exposure also will increase the social ability of your puppy, thus the puppy will be able to learn concepts of staying with people and being part of the family.
