Maruti Swift, swifter better than ever
India no doubt is a market steered by small cars and premium segment small cars are the new buzz led by Maruti Swift. Paying some extra bucks, car buyers prefer to have a premium car parked outside their house rather than an entry level Tata Nano or Maruti Alto. As per the recent price hike, Maruti Swift price starts at Rs 4.44 lakh for the Swift LXi model and goes to a maximum of Rs 6.76 lakh for the Swift ZDi model. The introduction of the new model that is more streamlined and up market has proved to be good for Maruti and since it’s introduction, the sales figures have gone up and is still the most desired of all in its segment.
After an year in doldrums, Maruti car sales started picking up in 2012 and witnessed a recent boom in February. Year 2011 has been a saga synonymous with strike after strike and lack of production leading to delays in delivery and consequent booking cancellations. It was this year that Maruti is able to revive its lost track record and able to sell cars in good numbers again. Among the cars that have put Maruti car sales back on track are Maruti Swift and new Swift Dzire. .
Maruti Swift has basically four arch rivals in the segment viz. Toyota Etios Liva, Renault Pulse, Nissan Micra and Chevrolet Beat. Among all these Etios Liva is the one that has the proportions to give Maruti Swift a straight fight. Where the Japanese car proposes exterior styling, the Swift is no less attractive. Where the Etios Liva is also available in petrol and diesel engine options, Swift is also there in these fuel options. Both have class leading power and mileage propositions. So who is the winner? Maruti Swift certainly is. Reason is quite simple. It is because Maruti Swift is an Indian car and a large number of Indian car buyers have a mindset that they first look for an Indian car before going for some foreign brand.
The new Maruti Swift with improved exterior appeal and more swept back headlamp and swept forward tail lamps as well as a raised look has done the magic. However, Toyota Etios Liva has no less appealing looks than Swift. But it is not that case that every car buyer goes only for Swift. Etios Liva too has its takes basically those who appreciate the technology and simply the looks. Where you can take home a Maruti Swift at Rs 4.44 lakh ex-showroom, a Toyota Etios Liva will cost you Rs 4.09 lakh.
