Hyundai Verna vis-a-vis American car new Ford Fiesta
The American car maker Ford and Korean Hyundai both have production units in Tamil Nadu but are arch rivals as far as their offerings are concerned. Ford Fiesta and Hyundai Verna are staunch competitors. Fluidic Verna has gradually settled down in the segment with more than inspiring 22,000 booking during its launch in India. Now that the new Ford Fiesta has come and at a reduced price, it seems that Verna has to rethink its features and specifications.
Both the cars have the latest designs in place. Where Hyundai Fluidic design philosophy has found the best avatar in Verna Fluidic, Ford Fiesta is no less appealing. The new Ford Fiesta with its new Kinetic styling is even more attractive. Even more, the reduced price and introduction of Ambiente model which is affordably priced makes the Fiesta enter the segment in a fresh way. However car critics have criticized the bulky appearance of the Fiesta as the boot looks as if it has been attached to it as an extra accessory. The Verna on the other hand is a fluidic inspired car with modern day styling. It looks as if it is moving even if it is stationary.
On the inside, both the cars have up market feel and comfort. Ford however, supersedes Verna in terms of equipments. Features like cruise control, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity are a big plus to Fiesta compared with Verna. The new Fiesta also has a comfort seating at the front and rear along with use of quality plastics inside.
Overall Ford Fiesta and Hyundai Verna Mileage is too good. The Ford Fiesta has a 1.5 L engine in both the diesel and petrol fuel outputting around 89 bhp, which is not a wonderful engine. Where Ford gets to 100 kmph in 13.04 seconds, Verna gets to this mark in 10.54 seconds. Verna too has a more top speed of 191 kmph than the Fiesta sedan. On the fuel efficiency front as well Verna return 15.3 kmpl while the Fiesta stays just behind with an average of 15 kmpl.
As far as drivability of Fiesta and Verna is concerned car reviews suggest that Fiesta has overall better drive dynamics than the Verna thanks to the boron steel body. Verna whereas excels in ride quality, its steering responds to even slight turn. Overall, the Fiesta can be termed as a driver’s pleasure car while Verna is better driven by Chauffeurs.
The question now arises is which one is better is it the Korean or the American car. Looking at the engine capability, drive and interiors features, Verna certainly has an edge over Fiesta or other sedan in its segment.
