Chevrolet Sail hatchback to land on shores in the third quarter, this year
Already, there have been lots of talks about the specifications and spotted mules of Chevrolet Sail. Now the latest buzz is from the car maker, General Motors who has declared that it will launch the Chevrolet Sail hatchback on the domestic shores in the third quarter, this year. With this news, expectations have also raised that the company would introduce the Sail sedan, by the first quarter of 2013. Both, the Sail sedan and Sail hatchback would replace the two struggling cars from Chevrolet, i.e. the Aveo and the Aveo U-VA.
S.Sawhney, Vice President, Sales, General Motors stated that they would roll out Sail hatchback in the third quarter, this year and also affirmed that they would also be focused on the MPV segment. Earlier, at the Auto Expo Delhi 2012, the company unveiled a MPV prototype that was a real head turning element of the event. Recently, the company has confirmed with the name of this MPV, which is ‘Enjoy’.
Chevrolet Sail Features : As far as the looks of Chevy Sail hatchback are concerned, it would overcome all the cons of Aveo U-VA. After a glance at the Sail prototype, one would really compliment it for its enticing looks. The front profile looks seductive due to its honeycomb front grille resembling to Chevrolet Cruze. Furthermore, the eyed headlamps also make the entire front comprehensive. Side profile has body colored side claddings, the ORVM turn indicators and seductive Alloy/Steel wheels. The rear view has got a better glance and has got vertical headlamps with body colored bumpers with integrated reflectors.
It is expected that Chevy Sail would carry beige and brown interiors and its dash would be somewhat similar to GM’s iconic car Opel Corsa. The three spokes steering wheel will have somewhat sport appearance. In addition, the cabins of Sail are expected to have ample of space for the five occupants.
Chevrolet Sail hatchback will be available in the 1.2 liter Smartech petrol and 1.3 liter Multi-jet diesel engine options. It is quite clear that the Chevy Sail hatchback will have head to head battle with other prevailing popular hatchbacks like Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz, Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20, Toyota Etios Liva, Honda Brio, Renault Pulse and Fiat Grande Punto.
Already, the two entry level products from GM, i.e. Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Beat have made a successful entry in the base hatchback variants and the launch of Chevrolet Sail hatchback would surely make it well established in the premium hatchback level too.
