10 upcoming cars in News from Years!
Indian car industry has seen a glimpse of cars slated for 2012 launch and the series of launch began thereafter. In between these back to back launches, several cars have been in the news from quite a long time with some or other model name. Those upcoming cars seem to launch sometime and then again take back seat in the name of Indian market analysis. Though there is no exhaustive list available anywhere and there are more surprises than assertions. However based on the current trend and the spy of test mules in India in the recent past, it is hoped to see the following cars entering India with a bang. Where some have the DNA to be an instant hit, some are expected to take time till they get acclaimed of the country.
Chevrolet Sail
This Chinese derived car is expected to take on two body styles – hatchback and sedan. The hatchback is expected to follow the launch of Chevrolet Sail sedan. The 1199cc, 82 bhp car is expected to be priced at Rs 5.5 lakh. Chevrolet Sail features is good and impressive.
Skoda Citigo
This Skoda small car is a city car as the name suggests and will be the seventh model. The Skoda Citigo is originally a two seater car, but in order to make it suitable for Indian needs, it will be made a four seater car. A 1L engine with 60bhp power will be there in Citigo. A five door version is what India expects.
Maruti Cervo
It is almost two years now and 2012 happens to be another year when the new Maruti 800 replacement car Maruti Cervo is expected to be launched. A 0.7L engine with only 660cc delivering 60 bhp is what expected from Cervo. However, being a small car and it is far more than certain that it will be attractively priced by Maruti; the Cervo will be an instant hit leaving past the records created by its seniors Maruti 800 or Alto.
Renault Twingo
Another small car by Renault, but in the premium segment, the Twingo has two things that will qualify it to have customer response. One is quality interiors and another is styling. Similar to Renault Pulse, the French car biggies is expected to land the Twingo in diesel at the end of this year.
Volkswagen Up
The German stable will see the entry of this small car Up in 2012 and expected to have all that needs for a thumb up in India. Expected to be available in 2-door, 4-door and 4-door wagon, the new VW car will be available in 1.2L petrol and 0.8L diesel. The European finish and brand makeup created by VW Vento and VW Polo will greatly support entry of Up in India.
Skoda Octavia
This Skoda sedan is ready for a reentry in India. This time it must ready itself for a tough fight as premium sedan has grown fat in the recent years. With its entry it will be replacing Skoda Laura. Highly environment friendly and frugal Skoda Octavia is expected to enter the C segment in India with a bang.
Volkswagen Golf
A hatch by design, the Volkswagen Golf is one of the best selling VW cars across globe. In India, the new hatchback will be competing with Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20 and Skoda Fabia besides others. Powered by a 2L petrol and also available in similarly powered diesel engine, the Golf will have automatic/manual option.
Ford B-Max
This is the Ford’s subcompact mini multipurpose car that is built on the famous B3 platform. Besides providing mobility to a family, the B-Max will be a great option for toureres. The new Ford car will be inheriting a lot of features from the Ford C Max sedan.
Nissan Leaf
As the name suggests, the Nissan Leaf hatchback will be entirely environment friendly besides being a performing car. The electric car can go for 175 km in one charge and is considered one of the best electric cars in the auto world.
Renault Modus
Another small car type MPV by the French automaker Renault that is very busy with launches since it broke ties with Mahindra in 2011. Renault Modus is a mix of hatchback and MPV and will be there by the year end or early next year. 1.2L engine with 75 bhp power and a five speed gearbox are some of the technicals of this car which are expected to create its own space in India and will offer an excellent option to those who wish to go for MPV in the budget of a small car.
