Maruti India on a hat- trick, two cars launched, third due in March
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the leading Indian auto maker which has been ruling the country’s car market for almost three decades now, has again become the talk of the town in the country with launching two new cars in the first and the second month of the New Year. Now it is going to launch a third vehicle that is Maruti Ertiga in the consecutive third month- March- that will give the firm a chance to celebrate a hat-trick.
After launching the new version of its flagship exporting model Maruti A-Star last week, the company launched new version of its much anticipated entry-level sedan Maruti Swift Dzire, on Wednesday.
The 2012 Maruti A-Star model was launched in the country on 27th January, carrying a number of upgrades including all new integrated rear spoiler, newly designed alloy wheels, 50:50 split rear seats and many more. The new age safety features like Antilock Braking System (ABS) and airbags are now available as optional features.
The new A-Star is available in variants including LXI, VXI, VXI AT, ZXI and ZXI (Optional), and hosts two new colors in its line-up including Glistening Grey and Pearl Caffeine Brown. The car is now available in the price range of Rs 3.66 – Rs 4.40 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
The new A-Star model was followed by the much talked about launch of new compact and cheaper version of Maruti Swift Dzire. The length of new 2012 Maruti Swift Dzire has been decreased to less than 4 meters, making it qualify for lesser excise duty of 11 percent as compared to 22 percent for the earlier model. The new Dzire model is available in the price range of Rs 4.79 lakh and Rs 7.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi); about Rs 26,000-31,000 cheaper as compared to the previous generation model.
Though the company hasn’t changed the engine units of any of the petrol or diesel version, but the fuel economy has been enhanced to 19.1 km per litre and 23.4 km per liter, respectively.
Keeping the momentum alive in the Indian market, the company is all set to mark debut in compact MPV segment with the launch of new Maruti Ertiga model next month.
The Ertiga model will be launched in both petrol and diesel versions and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 6 to Rs 7 lakh. Major competitor of this model will be Toyota Innova, Premier Rio, Tata Aria and Mahindra Xylo.
