Captivating Your Ears and Heart with Focusrite Scarlett

Focusrite is a name to contend with when it comes to excellent quality musical gadgets.  The company has built its reputation by producing first-class audio interfaces and mic preamps at a price that any consumer can afford. The innovative Focusrite Scarlett has joined its line of products, and is more compact than the Saffire range of products. It features bold styles, a tank-like structure and the most popular Focusrite preamps.

Scarlett’s back panel is reasonably endowed with a USB 2.0 connector and line stereo outputs.  A fusion of input ports is displayed on its front panel. An XLR cable or even a one-fourth inch jack can be accepted by these ports and has a rocker switch below where you have the Mic and Instrument inputs selection.  Giving off a bright red glow when turned on is the 48V phantom power button that functions for both inputs in case you want to connect two microphones.

Consequently, a bigger grey dial known as the Direct Monitor button is used to directly feed input indicators to the twin monitor selection.  It also manages the volume of your speakers.  Under its connector is a separate headphone level dial.  Situated on its left is an LED that illuminates to indicate USB connectivity.  To guarantee you continuous power, a bus-power is supplied through the USB connector.

Selecting levels for the inputs are the perceptive circular indicators for the Gain dials, which has a traffic-light scheme:  red to indicate too loud, orange to indicate almost close to overload and green to indicate the optimum level.  The manufacturers built this interface primarily for mobile users; hence, the clear and bright single levels are ideal in situations where there is low light.

The quality of its pres is unquestionable, as Focusrite has established its character on this technology. Input stage quality is not diminished and to assure the user of excellent quality the recording facility has a 24-bit, 96 kHz recording specs. The pres has a similar structure to that of the Saffire series.  The addition of the Scarlett suite of plugs further augments the audio.

The Scarlett suite, as well as the Ableton Live 8 Lite software, can be installed from a DVD.  Features in the plug-in suite are EQ, compressor, gate and reverb that provides functional criterion to provide a clean, nice and smooth audio. There is one downside though, which is the absence of a digital input and output line. Nevertheless, its quality and total bearing is not compromised.  With its affordable price, it is no wonder that it will produce more sales for Focusrite.

Any music aficionados will surely be delighted with the Scarlett  Focusrite  did not fail the customers and once again has made a clear statement that it is a leader in making innovative and functional musical equipment. The great audio, well structured interface and loads of flexibility were all combined into its slim frame.  The Focusrite Saffire provides a winning solid package with its quality sound and unique styling.  This is indeed another big innovation from Focusrite that deserves a big round of applause!
