Writing tips for write up of NIFT Situation Test

What is the Write-Up of NIFT situation test?

Students who have applied for Bachelor of Design Programme are called for Situation Test after clearing their written test. NIFT Situation Test is held at the various NIFT Centers all across the country. In situation test student is required to create a 3 dimensional model with various materials provided; based on a specific topic or theme mentioned. The students is provided with various kind of materials like, candles, ice cream sticks, mount board, color papers etc…They are given three hours to make a three dimensional model of an object described in the design Brief. With the submission of

object students also have to write few sentences describing the object they have made.

 How to write a write up?

It is very important for a designer to communicate about his creations. A designer should

have the ability to induce his thought in others. A designer must be able to bring out his

thoughts in a paper. Hence, The write up for NIFT Situation Test is very important. The write up will describe your personality on the paper, to the judges. Its very important to have a decent write up for your design.

 

Following are the tips for how to write a write up for NIFT situation test-

 TIPS

 • Remember to draw a margin.

• Use a neat black or blue gel pen instead of pencil for writing.

• Remember to write in points.

• Keep your write up short and never write stories.

• Underline the key words, or key points.

• Give a shot to the neatness.

• Write in a tidy and legible handwriting.

• Check your grammar and add quality to your language. It must not look like a 5th class

child has written it with loads of spelling mistake or in childish English.

• Write about what your model is.

• Give a title or a name for your design, if you can think of a catchy one.

• Write about the techniques that you have used, like cutting, folding, kirigami, origami,

rolling, quilling etc. if any.

• Write about its key features and how it’s different from the rest.

• Since it’s always better that your model is theme based, write about your theme.

• Write how your model is related to the theme that you have chosen.

• And finally, don’t forget to write your name and roll number. lolzz…

 Sounds like a big task isn’t it?? But, it’s going to be damn simple if you’re really prepared for it. And finally, the presentation matters a lot in the situation test. Clean up your table.

 Clear out the waste and other paper bits in the dust bin. Stack your write up with other rough sheets, and leave it near your model.
