Marks such as water rings and tea cup marks can be cleaned by sprinkling some flour and then rubbing the stains with a rag soaked in oil and wiping off the residue with a clean cloth. Furniture made of Mahogany can be cleaned by using dry linen.
• Cleaning windows and doors- Doors and windows are prone to stains which are difficult to remove with just water. Therefore use a solution of 1% Ammonia. Doors and frames which are having a layer of paint can be cleaned with warm tea solution. Stains on the window panes can be removed with the help of a Razor blade. Stubborn stains on the panes can be removed with the help of Turpentine oil.
• Mirror Cleaning- It is also an important part of house cleaning. Mirrors which have been stained must be cleaned with soft cotton soaked in Alcohol and then wiping the excess alcohol with news paper. Stubborn stains can be cleaned with a mixture of Vinegar, chalk and hot water in the ratio of 50 Gms vinegar: 500 ml of water: 50 Gms of chalk. Rub the mirror surface with this mixture for about 5 minutes before wiping with news paper.
• Cleaning floors- Floors do not require frequent cleaning especially if it is a parquet floor. Two cleaning per year would suffice. Use a mixture of 50:50 wax and turpentine to clean the floors. Stains on the floor can be cleaned using Emery paper. Stains on carpets can be removed by sprinkling Talc powder on the carpets and then covering the spot with a blotting paper and Ironing it.
