Explore the Life and Works of Elizabeth Rehnke
While most individuals measure success by their wealth or professional accolades, philanthropists like Elizabeth Rehnke spend more time measuring success by the number of successful philanthropic programs set up by them. As the daughter of famous surgeon and remarkable philanthropist, Dr. Ernest Rehnke, Liz Rehnke was exposed to the crude realities of life in her childhood. Liz was a frequent companion and helper of her father on his journeys to some of the most economically underdeveloped countries in the world. From the age of eleven, Elizabeth has been involved in bringing a gradual and pleasant change in the lifestyle of the most underprivileged sections of the society. From South America to Africa, Dr. Ernest and Liz have undertaken monumental humanitarian work by providing free medical services.
Dr. Ernest Rehnke is regarded as a successful medical doctor who achieved many honors and awards as a medical surgeon including the ‘Distinguished Surgeon Award’ which he received with his daughter by his side on the stage. It was a norm for Dr. Rehnke and his family to spend their holidays in deprived countries to do humanitarian work. All in all, Dr. Ernest led five missionary trips to countries such as Kenya, Haiti, Guatemala, Honduras and Ecuador where he dedicated his time and energy to offer free heath care services to save lives of thousands and also to protect thousands of malnourished people. The events that unfolded on these trips had a profound effect on Liz Rehnke as she was still very young and impressionable. After having aided her father in medical camps and working with the nursing staff, Elizabeth Rehnke realized the high degree of satisfaction she achieved in philanthropy.
Aspiring to follow in the footsteps of her father, Elizabeth Rehnke has continued to work as a philanthropist and currently she is responsible for the provision of free medicine and healthcare in many underdeveloped countries. In acknowledgment of the commendable work done by her, many NGOs and social relief organizations have also joined in with her to facilitate medical camps. Liz Rehnke has also led fundraising campaigns to collect money to provide free basic education to children in the poorest regions. For this purpose, Liz has set up schools where children from the most economically challenged families are given education. The medical camps run by Elizabeth have also laid great emphasis on promoting a hygienic lifestyle in disease-stricken areas to increase life expectancy and minimize the chances of loss of lives due to the outbreak of epidemics.
