Is Faux Fur Bad For Your Skin?

Faux fur made its debut in the clothing industry as a commercial clothing item in the 1950’s, and gained huge popularity for a number of reasons. Faux fur is not only cheaper than the real thing, but is in most ways a lot easier to maintain. These have been the major reasons as to why most people prefer faux fur to the real thing even today. Although this market segment is extremely popular, it is not exactly a good thing to own a faux fur coat or any other item of clothing for that matter.

The first thing about faux fur is that it is made entirely from synthetic materials, and this could pose a number of problems. It is not unheard of for people to get allergic reactions for the synthetic fur, much in the same way some people get allergic reactions from fake silver or other jewelry. Some people have extremely sensitive skin, and faux fur can essentially spell disaster for their skin and their general well being.

Another thing to consider is that real fur is meant to keep you warm. Faux fur is primarily made to imitate real fur, and mostly faux fur is actually for looks, rather than its potential to keep you warm. Faux fur can prove to be disastrous especially in extreme weather, since it is not able to keep you as warm as real far can. This is especially for people that love to go mountain climbing, or those that live in extreme weather conditions. Faux fur is very bad for the environment and it should be avoided at any given time.

Real fur in its natural state is made to create a balanced body temperature, and keep it at a constant. This is not so for faux far, as it does not allow the skin to breath either. If you are looking for a fur coat to keep you warm in the winter, it is always best to go with the real fur. Additionally, real fur always looks great, and really is a much better investment than faux fur in terms of the look as well as the quality.
