A sneak peek into the Chevrolet Beat diesel review

General Motor’s Indian subsidiary, Chevrolet has been able to woo Indian customers well with its line of cars present in the India portfolio. Chevrolet’s entry level hatchback Chevrolet Spark is one of the best selling small cars in India. Apart from this Chevrolet Beat has also been able to fuel sales of GM India. The hatchback was initially launched the petrol guise only, but in February last year the car was rolled out in LPG version, though the LPG variant could not do any wonders for GM India, but the company stole the limelight with the induction of Chevrolet Beat diesel in India. Last year in July, GM India lifted the covers off the diesel version of Beat hatchback. Chevrolet Beat diesel review reveals that the hatch is housed with a three cylinder diesel engine, the car is capable of generating 62.5 PS of power and a peak torque of 160.26 liters. On the exterior front the car flaunts same looks as its petrol sibling and also sports same features as well. Owing to its elongated headlamps and cutting edge looks, the small car looks conspicuous amongst other hatchbacks in its segment.

The diesel version is selling like hot cakes; it is extremely frugal and gives a stiff competition to other cars in its segment like Ford Figo and new Maruti Swift. Launched at an introductory price of Rs 4.29 lakh (e-showroom price), the company in the beginning of the year hiked the Chevrolet Beat diesel price by Rs 15,000, later as effect of the hike in cess levied on hatchbacks, the company further hiked the car prices across its range.

Chevrolet like other car cos has slated numerous car launches for this year, which include Chevrolet Sail hatchback which could be launched in the month of June or July. Apart from that the company will also launch the sedan version of the car, Chevrolet Sail sedan which could be launched during the festive season of Diwali. Chevrolet’s Sail hatchback and Sail sedan had been spotted umpteen times undergoing test runs across the Indian roads. Sail hatchback will be placed above Beat and will also be tagged above Beat, it will be a new entrant from GM India in the premium hatchback segment.

GM India was one of the auto honcho to participate in the 11th Auto Expo held in Delhi at Pragati Maidan in January. Along with the above mentioned cars, the company also displayed the new Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 and a new MPV. Out of these three, Tavera Neo 3 MPV has been launched in India, however the spruced up Captiva is yet to be spawned in the Indian car souk. Chevrolet’s new MPV has been christened Chevrolet Enjoy and is likely to be launched in India by the end of this year. MPV segment is swelling with a fast pace and a lot of new cars are joining this exponentially growing division. The current sales contribution of the MPV segment stands at 10% which is expected to accelerate to 20% in the coming years.
